French Know-How

Les Francaises is a young espadrille brand in the French Basque region: the heritage of the French Know-How.
Les Francaises espadrilles are made in a small family workshop that perpetuated craftsmanship for three generations: they have no less than 150 years of experience under their sole!

We decided to combined the quality of an ancestral product (manufactured since the 14th century at least) made with simple & natural materials and a twist of modernity without neglecting the comfort with a product 100% made in france!

We kept manufacturing our espadrilles, the traditional methods:

The molding of the soles by hand, vulcanized rubber on the soles (rubber melted on the sole for a better adhesion without risk of take-off).

The molding is always drawn in chalk, following a size template, on cotton canvas folded into a mattress and cut with a band saw.

The edge seam is a specificity of Mauléon.

Why Les Francaises?

Les Francaises means litteraly "The Frenchies".
It makes sense as both of us are! It's more an adventure of two friends living abroad for several years with common roots, who wanted to bring a share a bit of France in Hongkong with a typical French espadrille.
